Cape Town is the natural gateway for a South Africa itinerary that pairs the city with the Cape Winelands (Stellenbosch, Franschhoek) and a safari in Sabi Sand or Kruger. The V&A Waterfront holds the Silo, Cape Grace and One&Only; Camps Bay and Clifton are the beach suburbs; Constantia is the wine estate district inside the city. The southern-hemisphere summer from November to March is the season, though the "Cape Doctor" wind blows hard; whale season on the coast is June to November. Safety requires attention: use registered taxis or rideshare, avoid walking alone after dark in the centre, do not display valuables, and take local advice on which areas to avoid.
